Opening of Hotel J’s new cultural initiative!

Chamber music in the atmospheric, turn-of-the-century villa at Hotel J. We welcome you, on November 23rd and 25th, to a weekend of intimate chamber music concerts in the atmospheric villa by Nacka Strand, as Hotel J launches a new stage for music and culture in collaboration with musicians Kristina Winiarski and Sofia Winiarski. This historic villa was built in 1889 by Erik Fredlundh, originally as a vacation house. It is now opening its doors for classical concerts as a part of Hotel J’s new cultural offering. This weekend, two concerts will be presented by a group of world-class, Swedish and international musicians. The musicians will be in residence at the hotel from November 22-25th. From the 22nd  their rehearsals will be open to visitors, offering a unique experience for guests and audience members to get a glimpse into their creative process. Musicians: Yura Lee (USA/South Korea), Alva Holm (Denmark), Erik Arvinder (Sweden), Vicki Powell (USA), Mats Bergström (Sweden) and Kristina Winiarski (Sweden).

Friday’s inaugural concert is dedicated to the villa and its surroundings of Nacka Strand. Paired with Mozart’s most loved chamber music work, the Divertimento for string trio, the program highlight’s Caroline Shaw’s string quartet, “Plan & Elevation” (2015) which aims to depict various architectural perspectives through music, paying homage to the house and the beautiful nature that surrounds it. Saturday’s concert is one of celebration, featuring on Joseph Haydn’s spirited string quartet op. 20, as well as the Italian Baroque composer Luigi Boccherini’s exuberant quintet for guitar and string quartet.
